One of the missions we have as a human beings is to love ourselves, the challenge is in knowing how.
We’ve been told that love comes from how we look; we need to be thin, have perfect traits, be tall, have an excellent car etc. Because the love that is really valuable, is the one that’s outside, along with the suit we wear.
Like I said, love is, and doesn’t need any excuses to be lived or felt, love is within you and sometimes you cannot see it because you’ve been put masks to see love with judmental eyes.
Remember when I talked you about the ego and the being? The being is expansive and love is it’s essential nourishment; the ego looks for love to fill empty spaces. Both live within you because like I said, we need the ego to live in this earth, so it can help us to distinguish what’s good and bad, while the being help us to follow and reach where we belong; both are sacred and therefore, they need your acceptance, integration and love because they are part of you.
I want you to understand that self-love is not related to selfish narcisism; on the contrary, it have to do with love that approves, accepts the way it is, hugging the fearful ego that only shows our shadow; and loving our being who takes us to our highest good.
I would like to give you everything you’ve never had,
And yet, you wouldn’t know how wonderful is
to be able to love yourself.
Frida Kahlo.
I’ve always wanted to change my nose, sometimes I said to myself: if my nose were smaller I would look better, and I put conditions to my own self-love so now I make a pause, observe, and think: This is me and I decide to love myself deeply, dropping those ideas that are only in my head, because you know, my nose breathes perfectly; with that same thinking I’ve decided to hug and love the impulses of my shadow that sometimes acts from my wounded ego.
Can you realize we’ve been sold limited beliefs where human beings can only love ourselves if we acomplish certain requirements, and I know that breaking up with that is an everyday struggle.
I’ve told you that we need to observe the way we are looking up for love, if we are doing it from need, compassion, certainty, companionship, contribution, complement, etc. That’s the representation of the love you see in you, and in that way you search for it, and as a divine law you’ll find it.
Self-love is a feeling that develops everyday, it’s a constant practice, and yes, and act of will and disposition of oneself; without allowing the things outside from us affects our thinking and without allowing to be told how to better love ourselves.
Trust me, the love you have is unique, you have your own magic, incomparable and unrepeatable so please don’t try to change you, because trying to be someone else will never fulfill you because the only thing that you’ll do is cover who you really are. Our justification for not experience self-love is telling ourselves: When I look like this!, feel like this!, have this!, live like this! etc. Then I will love myself… please don’t, because the person who lives inside you is the one who knows where is your true joy, listen to it and follow it’s guidance…
I know it’s difficult to accept ourselves the way we are without trying to change us because that means loving us unconditionally; what I can tell you is try, and then everything you need will come to your life without the absence of something that torments you. Realize that self-love is the most faithful, loyal, authentic, compassionate, and comprehensive kind of love you can ever have; because it will never abandon you, not even in the saddest and most challenging experiences, and it’ll be the love that will join you until the last breath, so it’s your decision if you see it and hug it or reject and ignore it…
I hug you,
Shary ChavLó.
